George Kyprianou
Curator of Physical & Digital Experiences, Researcher and Lecturer
About
I am George, an independent UX designer, curator, researcher, and lecturer with a rich foundation working within fashion, retail, and academia. My passion lies in creating meaningful, human-centred, immersive digital and physical experiences informed by my expertise in exploring the intersection of design, technology, and cultural storytelling. I come from a multidisciplinary background which allows me to approach design challenges with a unique blend of creativity, critical thinking, and cross-industry insight.
My PhD research at the London College of Fashion titled “The Fashion Exhibition as a Rhizomatic Space” explores the digital transformation of fashion curation due to the rapid development of new technologies, in order to satisfy the increased need for immersive experiences. I hold an MA in Media and Creative Cultures from the University of Greenwich, an MA in Architectural Design from De Montfort University, and a BA (Hons) in Architecture from the same institution. This diverse educational foundation has shaped my ability to merge physical and digital environments, a skill I apply in crafting immersive experiences across UX design, curatorial projects, and fashion storytelling. I also completed my UX Design training with CareerFoundry, where I gained hands-on experience in user research, interaction design, prototyping, and usability testing through real-world projects.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of teaching and mentoring students at esteemed institutions, including York St John University, University of the Arts London, and the University of Greenwich. My teaching philosophy is rooted in facilitation theory and experiential learning, inspiring students through hands-on, practice-based education that fosters creativity and critical thinking.
In parallel with my academic work, I have extensive experience in a variety of positions, from fashion styling and art direction to sales and management, working with renowned names like Alexander McQueen, Thom Browne, and Giorgio Armani. My artistic practice focuses on curating innovative fashion exhibitions that blend traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge digital technologies, creating immersive experiences that extend beyond conventional retail and exhibition formats.
As I continue my journey, I am dedicated to further exploring the evolution of experience design, both digital and physical, in response to technological advancements. I am passionate about interdisciplinary work, especially working alongside other creatives, designers, and brands to design and curate memorable, immersive, and impactful experiences. My goal is to push the boundaries of storytelling and interaction, creating spaces that seamlessly merge creativity, innovation, and human connection.
